This release is not just another piece of music: it is a tribute to a very special person: Dmitri "Dimi" Levine - a highly gifted cellist and wonderful human being who sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 76.

‘Dimi Remembered’ is an emotive collection of my studio recordings with him (2010 - 2014), playing on his beautiful Italian-made Cello. It includes commissioned, solo and previously unreleased ‘unfinished’ works. I really wanted to get this out and share his expressive playing with you all.

I met Dimi in 2010, when I was looking to collaborate with a cellist to replace some midi tracks with an actual instrumental recording. We immediately liked each other and started working in my studio on a regular basis. Besides his beautiful and emotional approach to performance, Dimi impressed me for his kind and patient personality. He became much more than a musical mentor, but someone who changed the way I see my life and work forever.

Rest in peace Dimi, I will be eternally grateful!

About Dimi and the release:
Born in a musical family, Dimi was a child prodigy and his talent as a cellist was immediately recognised. Eventually, music turned into his passion and profession for 69 years, having played his instrument just a hour before his death.

In Russia, he performed with the Rimski-Korsakow-Quartet for over three decades and he had the privilege to travel the world and record on numerous albums and television shows. In the mid-nineties, he moved to Berlin where he became concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and founder of the “Musik Collegium Berlin”, an open ensemble with a Russian, Italian and Czech Repertoire.

Enjoy and please share the music if you like it.
